South Korea’s third-largest mobile carrier LG Uplus Corp. on Tuesday unveiled the first video ad using generative artificial intelligence (AI).
The ad for the launch of the Uth Youth Plan, a new mobile phone plan for 20-somethings, uses generative AI for the scenario, images, videos, and audio. This is the first time in the industry that an ad has been produced with generative AI sources.
LG Uplus used its AI-dedicated organization, CDO, and its cutting-edge ixi technology to generate the ad's essential components. The generative AI produced a comprehensive text scenario, while the visual AI crafted and edited images and videos for each scene. The audio AI played a crucial role in incorporating a voiceover narration.
The production of the ad involved about 300 AI-generated sources. Creating the ad using AI was about a quarter of the cost of a typical advertisement, and the production period was reduced by about one-third.
