Hyundai IONIQ 5 N South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co. said on Sunday that its high-performance electric vehicle (EV) the IONIQ 5 N was selected as Car and Driver's prestigious 2024 EV of the Year.
Hyundai Motor has three-peated as our EV of the Year winner, with the inaugural award in 2022 going to the IONIQ 5, the IONIQ 6 taking the title in 2023, and now the performance-focused IONIQ 5 N getting the nod for 2024.
Car and Driver evaluated a total of 18EV models this year, including Hyundai's IONIQ 5 N and Kona Electric, Kia Corp.'s EV9, BMW i5 eDrive 40, Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, and the Tesla Cybertruck.
The IONIQ 5 N, the first dedicated EV from Hyundai's high-performance N brand, features an 84 kWh high-output battery and a high-performance all-wheel-drive system.
With a maximum output of 478 kW (650 horsepower) and a peak torque of 78.5 kgf·m, the IONIQ 5 N has been praised for pushing the limits of driving performance and enjoyment.
