LG Elec wins best eco-friendly washing machine title in US

Consumer Reports, a prominent consumer magazine in the US, has named LG Electronics Inc.'s washing machines as the "best eco-friendly washing machines."

According to industry sources on Sunday, LG Electronics had secured the top position in the drum washing machine, top-loading washing machine and agitator washing machine categories as published in the magazine.

These three types of washing machines constitute more than 90% of total sales in the US washing machine market and are almost evenly split in market share. LG washing machines ranked first and second in the drum category, with the highest rating of "excellent" in tests measuring washing performance, energy efficiency and water use efficiency.

LG's top-loading washing machine, which took first place in its category, was rated "excellent" in washing performance, reliability and water use efficiency, and "very good" in energy efficiency.

Meanwhile, in the agitator washing machine category, LG models, which were one of the agitator washing machines to acquire the eco-friendly mark "Green Choice," took first place.

An LG company official explained that the excellent performance of LG washing machines was due to the technological superiority of key components, such as the direct drive motor that precisely controls the rotational speed.
