Naver Pay to be available at all Alipay merchants in China

Naver Pay, the simple payment service of South Korea's Naver Financial, announced on Tuesday that it will start offering Naver Pay Money and Point QR-based on-site payment services at all Alipay merchants throughout China.

Naver Pay QR payments can be used everywhere in China where Alipay payments are accepted, including locations in Hangzhou, where the 19th Asian Games will be held.

Users can make payments by presenting a QR code at all payment locations in China with the Alipay Plus logo, such as airports, department stores, supermarkets, and taxis, or by scanning the QR code displayed in stores using the app's camera.

To make a payment, users can select Alipay Plus on the on-site payment QR screen or use the dedicated QR code generated for payment. Payments can be easily made using Naver Pay points or directly charged Naver Pay money without the need for separate currency exchange procedures.

If the available balance is insufficient to cover the payment amount, the payment will be charged in increments of 10,000 won ($7.54) from the connected charging account. Naver Pay's global QR payment service is available on both the Naver Pay app and the Naver app.

Alipay Plus is the official sponsor of the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, which opens on Sept. 23, and it exclusively provides payment services at event-related key locations, such as Asian Games venues and the athletes' village. National team athletes, officials, and spectators visiting Hangzhou can use Naver Pay for payments.

"Starting with the Hangzhou Asian Games, we will expand global payment collaborations to offer more distinctive experiences and benefits unique to Naver Pay in more countries," a Naver Pay source said. "We are preparing to make Naver Pay QR payments available at all Alipay+ merchants in Japan by the end of the year."
