South Korea's POSCO International Corp., broke ground on the new electric vehicle (EV) traction motor core plant in Brzeg, Opole Voivodeship, Poland on Tuesday.
The new factory in Poland will be built on a 100,000 square-meter site and is expected to be completed in mid-2025.
Traction motor core is a crucial component in the powertrain systems of most eco-friendly vehicles, excluding those powered by traditional internal combustion engines.
Production at the plant will initially focus on supplying 1.03 million traction motor core in the second half of 2025.
These will be used specifically for EVs of Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp., destined for the European market.
POSCO International aims to establish a production system capable of producing 1.2 million drive motor cores annually by 2030, solely from the Polish factory.
