South Korea's small space launch vehicle startup Perigee Aerospace Inc. said on Friday it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Quantum Aero to develop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Perigee explained that Quantum Aero is specialized that imports artificial intelligence (AI) drones and is also the exclusive importer of the American combat drone manufacturer Shield AI in South Korea.
The two companies stated that they would work together on advanced UAVs, localization of key components, and satellite communications systems for national defense.
Perigee indicated that it plans to collaborate on the defense UAV development project by integrating control technology for launch vehicles with the hardware secured by Quantum Aero, engine design, and manufacturing technology for component localization.
