South Korea’s LG Uplus Corp. on Sunday said it is developing the generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) ixi-GEN.
The large language model (LLM) learns the company’s communications and platform data on the hyperscale multimodal AI Exaone created by LG AI Research. As an LLM exclusively for communications and platform services, ixi-GEN boasts high efficiency and lower consumption of computing resources.
LG Uplus will launch ixi-GEN in the first half of next year, first for services with many user points of contact like its lifestyle communications platform Nugget. An ixi-GEN-based chatbot enables personalized consultation like customized product recommendations.
“Exaone is a hyperscale AI service geared for experts, making it difficult to apply to communications or platform services,” a company source said.
LG Uplus' domestic telecom competitors are also raising their AI business know-how. KT on Tuesday will release its hyperscale AI model Mi:dm and SK Telecom on Tuesday last week added its iPhone call recording function A. to its AI platform.
