South Korea's generative AI startup DeepBrain AI said on Thursday it partnered with Japan-based Nippon Electric Company (NEC) to introduce AI anchors for weather forecasting at Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting, based in Okinawa, Japan.
Starting in January 2025, the AI anchor will deliver weather updates on terrestrial and internet broadcasts for Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting.
DeepBrain AI’s proprietary AI Studios platform will provide hyper-realistic AI avatars capable of mimicking human-like expressions and gestures.
The AI anchor can generate natural and seamless broadcasts by inputting a script.
The initiative aligns with Okinawa-based Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting’s digital transformation strategy to address staff shortages.
Additionally, the AI anchor is designed to cater to Japan’s growing population of foreign residents by supporting broadcasts in over 80 languages.
DeepBrain AI’s advanced AI human technology enables multilingual program production without requiring additional manpower or resources.
