South Korea's Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. (Daewoo E&C) has expanded and reorganized its nuclear-related division following its selection as the preferred bidder for the new Dukovany nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic.
On Monday, Daewoo E&C said that it had expanded its nuclear division within the Plant Business Division from the existing "2 teams, 2 task forces (TF)" structure to a new "5 teams, 1 unit" system.
The restructured nuclear division now includes five teams: Overseas Nuclear Team, Domestic Nuclear Team, Nuclear Execution Team, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Team, and Nuclear Design Team, along with a special Czech Nuclear Project Preparation Unit.
This reorganization aims to strengthen Daewoo E&C's capacity to execute the Czech nuclear project and accelerate its entry into the global nuclear power market.
The newly established Domestic Nuclear Team will focus on domestic new nuclear power sales and also handle contracts for nuclear decommissioning, waste disposal facilities, research reactors, and accelerators, based on Daewoo E&C's strengths across all stages of the nuclear lifecycle.
New SMR Team has been set up to explore new growth opportunities, and the Nuclear Design Team has been elevated from the previous Nuclear Design TF.
