Kimchi (Getty Images) South Korea's state-run postal service agency Korea Post announced on Monday it resumed Express Mail Service (EMS) for shipping kimchi all over the US.
Kimchi EMS was suspended in November 2020 due to COVID-19 but from Nov. 6, it restarted in Japan. The US is the second country to resume kimchi EMS.

To ensure safe transport and avoid the risk of bursting packages, Korea Post advises senders to encase kimchi in plastic, filling the contents to about 70% in specially designed cans, which must then be fully sealed. This packaging guideline aims to mitigate the challenges faced with the air transport of fermented food.
"The resumption of services to Japan and now to the entire US means that our citizens abroad can reconnect with the taste of home," President of Korea Post Cho Hae-keun said.
