Ediya Coffee introduces Taiwan Pay

South Korea's homegrown coffee chain Ediya Coffee announced on Tuesday that it introduced Taiwan's popular mobile payment platform Taiwan Pay (TWQR) to all nationwide franchise stores.

Taiwan Pay is a QR code-based mobile payment platform widely used in Taiwan.

Starting from May 1, Taiwanese tourists visiting Ediya Coffee can make payments using the Taiwan Pay app.

Ediya Coffee explained that the decision to adopt Taiwan Pay was driven by the increasing number of Taiwanese tourists visiting South Korea recently.

In the first quarter of this year, the number of Taiwanese tourists visiting South Korea reached 306,000, which is 109% of the level during the same period in 2019 before COVID-19. Taiwanese tourists visiting Korea in the first quarter ranked third, following China and Japan.

Ediya Coffee plans to introduce various global payment services to all franchise stores in the nation.
