Tmap Mobility Co., a Korean navigation app company, announced on Friday a business agreement to promote cooperation in autonomous driving technology and services with SW Mobility, a self-driving technology company that develops solutions for self-driving vehicles and provides paid transportation services in Seoul and Daegu.
The collaboration will begin with a beta service in the self-driving pilot test district within the 85 km area of Gangnam, Seoul, starting in October.
The ultimate goal is to implement Level 4 self-driving services, similar to those being demonstrated in San Francisco by companies like GM Cruise and Google Waymo.
Jeong Min-gyu, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Tmap Mobility, stated that the company aims to promote and materialize the discovery of various new cooperative items for innovation through the combination of autonomous driving technologies.
