South Korea's leading game developer Krafton Inc. announced on Wednesday that it has established a new independent studio called ReLU Games.
Krafton established ReLU Games on June 1. Kim Min-jeong, who has been in charge of Krafton's Special Project 2, was appointed as the CEO of the new unit.
ReLU Games, Krafton's 11th independent studio, will focus on game development using deep learning technology.
ReLU Games will continue the efforts of Krafton's in-house incubating program, Special Project 2, which was initiated in 2020, to combine deep learning technology with the fun of gaming. It plans to apply the deep learning game development experience and ideas accumulated over the past three years of operating Special Project 2 to its new projects.
Its first project was FOONDA: AI Puzzle, which aims to provide users with a highly personalized puzzle experience by generating puzzle stages using deep learning algorithms. The new company prepares for the release of the mobile version of Foonda within the third quarter of 2023.
It is also pursuing projects that explore the fun of gaming through deep learning, such as Project Orchestra, which utilizes voice recognition.
