South Korea's HD Hyundai Infracore Co.'s new diesel engines were selected as the best diesel engines of the year in Italy.
This marks the first time a domestic company has received the Diesel of the Year award.
HD Hyundai Infracore said on November 10 that its two next-generation diesel engines, the DX05 and DX08, won the 2025 Diesel of the Year (DOTY) Award, widely regarded as the most prestigious recognition in the industrial engine sector.
DOTY is an international award organized by Vado e Torno Edizioni, an Italian publishing group specializing in global powertrain and commercial vehicles.
The DX05 and DX08 engines, with capacities of 5 and 7.5 liters respectively, feature optimized combustion chamber designs and advanced fuel injection systems.
These engines deliver best-in-class performance while improving fuel efficiency by up to 8% compared to previous models.
Both engines comply with Stage V and Tier 4 Final emission standards, the strictest regulations in Europe and the United States.
Additionally, hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO), a low-carbon biofuel, can be used as fuel, making the engines key contributors to the transition toward carbon neutrality.
