(Courtesy of LG Uplus) LG Uplus Corp. said on Tuesday that it has succeeded in linking open distributed unit (O-DU) and open RAN (radio access network) radio unit (O-RU) base station equipment based on open RAN international standards in cooperation with Nokia and Samji Electronics Co., a domestic telecom equipment supplier.
The company explained that it signed a business cooperation agreement with Nokia on 6G research and development in July last year, and has since promoted developing open RAN equipment, whose market is expected to grow rapidly in the 6G era, jointly with Nokia's research unit.
LG Uplus added that it plans to develop additional open LAN equipment suitable for the domestic telecom environment and target the global market by paying O-RU development costs for Samji Electronics.
