K-pop girl group Blackpink's “Ddu-du Ddu-du” music video has surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube on Wednesday, its record label YG Entertainment Inc. said on the same day.
It is the first case for a K-pop group music video to exceed 2 billion views and the figure is the highest among K-pop group music videos.
It took about four years and five months since it was released on Jun. 15, 2018.
“Ddu-du Ddu-du" is renewing all records on YouTube every minute and second. Considering recent growth in views which leaped by 100 million views every three to five months, it is very likely to set a new milestone in a few months, YG explained.
“Ddu-du Ddu-du,” is the lead track on the girl group's first mini-album "Square Up." Its addictive chorus and gun-shooting dance move have drawn huge popularity among K-pop fans, elevating the video to first place in the world's most viewed K-pop music video in 2018.
It peaked at No. 40 on the US Billboard 200 albums charts and No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100 song chart, marking the highest ranking in K-pop girl group history at the time.
