Kumho Tire Co. is intensifying its sustainable management efforts by establishing an environmental, social and governance (ESG) committee directly under its board of directors.
The South Korean company stated that creating the ESG Committee demonstrates the board's commitment to strengthening corporate sustainability by comprehensively managing and monitoring ESG practices.
The ESG Committee of Kumho Tire is an independent entity within the board of directors, chaired by CEO Jeong Il-taek, with outside directors Song Moon-seon and Kim Jin-young serving as on the committee.
The ESG Committee will oversee the establishment of ESG strategies and risk management, ESG task management and monitoring, environmental management and climate change response.
Kumho Tire is implementing ESG management by joining the UN Global Compact, announcing a plan to become carbon neutral and constructing solar power facilities.
"We will strengthen ESG management for the sustainable development of our company," CEO Jeong Il-taek stated in his New Year's message this year.
