Dongrae Raemian iPark Mist Garden (Courtesy of Samsung C&T construction unit) On Monday, Samsung C&T Corp.'s construction division announced that Dongrae Raemian iPark in Busan, South Korea, a project in which it participated in the construction, has won the Asia Design Prize this year.
The landscape artwork "Mist Garden" within Dongrae Raemian iPark was chosen as a winner in the space and architecture category.
Mist Garden is a modern interpretation of the hot springs, a symbol of Dongrae and its surrounding areas, in a spiral-shaped resting place located in the central space of the complex.
Stonecrops, a low-maintenance tree species, were planted on the roof, and a drainage facility was installed to reduce heavy load and maintain the roof's shape.
U-shaped frames were strategically placed to create an entrance view, and a cool mist system was installed inside the frames to reduce fine dust and lower the ambient air temperature by spraying mist.
The Asia Design Prize is an international design competition founded in 2016, and this year, 154 winners were selected from 1,051 entries across 22 countries worldwide.
