LG Electronics Inc. and South Korea’s Yonsei University are searching for talented human resources to build software platforms for smart TVs.
The two sides on Friday said they signed a business agreement to foster talented staff for smart TV software.
Under the agreement, Yonsei’s College of Computing from next month will open a lecture on “Connected Platform Theory and Practice” for junior and senior majors in computer science.
The lecture explains the platform webOS and technology applied to smart TVs, and students can experience application of their own knowledge to the TV product system.
Yonsei recommends outstanding students in this field to LG Electronics, which selects industry-academia scholarship recipients among those recommended and for scholarships and preferential hiring benefits.
“Securing outstanding talent is also important for the expansion of the webOS ecosystem that LG Electronics will pursue,” said Jung Jae-cheol, head of the company’s Home Entertainment Research Center. “We will continue expanding industry-university cooperation in the advancement of TV platforms and services.”
