South Korea's system securities provider S-1 Corp. has launched a new solution that reduces the facial recognition time by 40% compared to previous versions and increases the number of persons subject to access control by 16 times.
The company said on Monday that it has released its facial recognition reader 2.0, which incorporates AI technology to improve the recognition speed and accuracy of the previous reader. S-1's facial recognition AI algorithm has been verified by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) with a 99.9% accuracy rate.
The new solution reduces the recognition time from 1 second to 0.6 second, increases the number of persons subject to access control from 3,000 to over 50,000 and expands the installation range from indoors to outdoors.
The company emphasized the importance of simultaneously securing recognition speed and accuracy for facial recognition technology.
S-1 also extended the facial recognition distance of the built-in camera in the reader from 1 meter to 1.3 meters to reduce the reaction time of the reader by securing the reading time of the face from a distance.
The company plans to develop related solutions that can provide safety and convenience for customers with the increasing need for contactless solutions like facial recognition readers, especially as mask mandates are lifted.
