South Korea's SK Telecom Co. is taking part in this year's International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition (MADEX), which ends Friday, at Busan Exhibition and Convention Center.
The company is displaying its smart wireless network system applied to naval vessels and overland airbases featuring the time division duplexing-long term evolution (TDD-LTE) system, dedicated terminal and Internet of Things (IoT) services.
In 2019, SK Telecom installed a TDD-LTE-based smart wireless network system on smart battleships of the Republic of Korea Navy and has helped operations on such vessels through smart terminals and watches and IoT.
Through such support, the Navy can conduct real-time communication and text transmission during operations at sea using smart devices and watches between commanders and soldiers. IoT services are also used to support the efficient running of a vessel.
At MADEX, SK Telecom is displaying its smart ship wireless network targeted by the Navy through its TDD-LTE system and terminal and IoT services to contribute to the advancement of futuristic smart battleships.
The TDD-LTE system installed on naval ships boasts excellent security thanks to military-only frequencies and provides broadband coverage needed for a range of operations.
SK Telecom also wants to expand its business scope by promoting its system to domestic defense companies and foreign naval officials attending this year's MADEX.
