South Korean navigation app company Tmap Mobility announced on Tuesday that it will launch a mobile electric vehicle (EV) charging delivery service in collaboration with TBU, a domestic operator of the EV charging platform Elecvery.
The service enables users to request an EV charging vehicle, similar in size to a passenger car, and charge their EV at any accessible location. Currently, the service is available in all areas of Seoul and Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, with plans for future expansion.
To utilize the service, users can simply select the Mobile Charging icon in the EV Charging menu on the Tmap app, choose their desired service item and confirm the reservation. Options include 30kWh~50kWh charging and charging the vehicle battery up to 80%.
Tmap Mobility anticipates that the introduction of this service will enhance the convenience for EV users. Currently, the domestic charging infrastructure provides an average of 0.4 chargers per EV. Furthermore, the availability of fast-charging infrastructure capable of rapid charging constitutes only 8% of the total.
