South Korea's Shinsegae International said on Tuesday that it has signed an exclusive distribution contract with the Italian cosmetic brand Dolce & Gabbana Beauty in South Korea, unveiling a strategic move to bolster its presence in the luxury cosmetics sector.
Dolce & Gabbana Beauty is a cosmetic brand under the fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. In 1992, the brand launched a perfume that popularized fashion fragrances. In 2009, it expanded its lineup to makeup products, including lipsticks and blushes.
Earlier this year, the brand formed a separate legal entity in Italy. From production to sales to distribution, everything is managed directly from the headquarters.
Marking the commencement of this collaboration, Shinsegae International will introduce a premium perfume line on its proprietary platform S.I. Village on Sept. 27. In October, the company will expand its sales network including Chicor and Olive Young.
Shinsegae International plans to open standalone stores of Dolce & Gabbana Beauty in major department stores and duty-free shops in 2024.
This collaboration signifies a strategic enhancement in the company's imported cosmetics business. The addition of Dolce & Gabbana Beauty complements its already diverse portfolio, which encompasses brands like Diptyque, Byredo, Santa Maria Novella, Oribe, and Hourglass.
