Drone-based POS-Vision for detecting apartment exterior wall defects South Korea's POSCO E&C has developed a solution for apartment exterior wall maintenance using drones.
The company announced on Tuesday that it has developed an artificial intelligence (AI) crack maintenance solution called "POS-Vision," which uses drones equipped with high-definition video equipment to capture images of apartment exterior walls and detect cracks.
This solution can detect cracks as small as 0.3 mm in width. According to the criteria for housing defect assessment, cracks wider than 0.3 mm are considered defects.
In addition to cracks, the solution can also detect defects in exterior wall quality, such as poor window sealing and concrete damage.
POSCO E&C has successfully introduced this technology into nine projects, including apartment exterior wall inspections, highway slab construction and thermal power plant coal storage construction, achieving faster maintenance work completion.
The company plans to further enhance accuracy and expand the application of this technology to all sites to rigorously manage the quality of structural construction.
"This technology is essential for preventing issues related to exterior wall quality, such as leaks and exposed reinforcement bars, and contributes to delivering high-quality apartments," said an official from POSCO E&C.
