South Korea's artificial intelligence (AI) startup Upstage announced on Monday that it established the US corporation Upstage AI in Silicon Valley, California.
The company’s co-founder Park Eunjeong was appointed as CEO of Upstage AI.
Upstage's US subsidiary will participate in the world's largest AI conference GPU Technology Conference (GTC) 2024, hosted by Nvidia.
"It's the first time we have set up a standalone booth at an overseas event to introduce our technology and products," an Upstage source said. "This year's GTC is expected to be the largest ever, with over 300,000 attendees."
Upstage plans to demonstrate the performance and use cases of its proprietary pre-trained large language model (LLM) Solar to offline and online attendees.
Furthermore, key engineers of Solar, including Lee Hwalsuk, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Lee Jun Yeop, LLM Leader, will attend special sessions to present their expertise in LLM modeling and retrieval-augmented generation technology.
Upstage plans to expand its overseas presence to North America as a primary focus, including European, Japanese, and Southeast Asian markets in the long term.
