The Genesis GV80 was launched in 2020 The sport utility vehicle GV80 under Hyundai Motor Co.'s premium Genesis brand recorded its highest half-year sales in the first half of this year, after rolling out a revamped model late last year amid growing demand for SUVs.
Hyundai sold 38,752 units of the GV80 worldwide in the first six months of 2024, up 39.7% from the same period last year, according to Hyundai Motor’s investor relations materials released on Sunday.
That marked a 35% surge above the 28,736 units it sold in the second half of 2023, which was the then-strongest sales for the model over a six-month period.
Its sales in the first half of 2024 broke down into 14,940 units sold overseas and 23,812 units sold domestically.
A modified GV70 unveiled in May 2024 Hyundai released a modified version of the GV80 in October last year, in which its radiator grilles are decorated with diamond patterns to highlight its luxury brand image.
The GV80 also performed well in the US, where its first-half sales leaped 22.2% to 10,091 units versus the 8,255 units sold in the same period of 2023.
The GV70 also led Genesis’ US sales, which reached 12,181 units in the first half of this year. The mid-sized SUV unveiled its first redesign in April this year following its 2020 debut.
The revamped Genesis GV80 Coupe launched in 2023
The Genesis GV80 Coupe SUV also helped drive the Genesis' sales growth. It sold 3,322 units worldwide in the first six months of this year.
Coupe SUVs with their sleek design, have a higher price tag than other SUVs but have generated an enthusiastic fan base, according to industry officials.
