Samsung E&A Co. said on Friday that it won a contract for the RLP ethylene storage plant construction project in Qatar, valued at 300 billion won ($214 million).
The contract partner is Qatar's Ras Laffan Petrochemicals and Samsung E&A will undertake approximately 301.9 billion won ($215.7 million) of the total 588.2 billion won ($420.3 million) project. The project will be executed in a joint venture with Taiwan's CTCI Group.
The construction is aimed at building ethylene storage tanks and utility infrastructure at the Ras Laffan Industrial City, located 80 kilometers north of the Qatari capital, Doha.
Samsung E&A will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of key equipment, including 30,000-ton storage tanks, compressors, and pumps.
This contract win follows the successful recognition of Samsung E&A's performance on a previous ethylene project in Qatar by the client.
