Rebellions Inc., a South Korean artificial intelligence chip design startup, officially merged with Sapeon Korea to form the first domestic AI chip unicorn under the unified name Rebellions.
The merger between Rebellions and Sapeon Korea, an AI chip firm backed by telecom giant SK Telecom Co., was finalized six months following its June announcement.
The new CEO is Sunghyun Park, an expert in AI and system semiconductors with a Ph.D. from MIT's Computer Science and AI Lab (CSAIL). He had experience in Intel, Space X, and Morgan Stanley.
Rebellions plans to collaborate with SK Telecom to expand into the global AI data center market. Building on this partnership, the company aims to achieve tangible results in international markets, including the US, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
Rebellions will leverage its advanced chiplet technology, featured in its next-generation AI chip, REBEL.
The company is strengthening its leadership in the PyTorch ecosystem, making it easier for developers to build and deploy AI services.
