Hyundai Elevator Chungju campus Hyundai Elevator Co. said on Wednesday that it will join a South Korean government-led team to bid for smart city projects in Indonesia, where the capital is being relocated from Jakarta to Kalimantan Island.
The company, along with its affiliate Hyundai Movex Co., will showcase its technologies for elevators, logistics automation and information technology services in a bidding to be held in Indonesia later this month.
Indonesia plans to move its capital by 2045 as Jakarta faces problems of land subsidence and crowding. The relocation will involve a $33.6 billion infrastructure project and a five-stage development plan.
It also said that it has been collaborating with more than ten companies including LG Electronics Inc. on robot-elevator linkage and aims to set international standards in the field.
“We will do our best to explore and expand overseas markets such as Indonesia and Saudi Arabian Neom City,” said Jo Jae-cheon, CEO of Hyundai Elevator.
