South Korea’s Naver Corp. said on Friday its group-based social media platform Band reached 6.04 million monthly active users (MAU) in the United States as of last month.
Band has been growing at a rate of more than 20% annually in the US since 2021, and it surpassed 5 million MAU in October of last year, exceeding 6 million just about a year later.
Naver reported that 65% of active Band users in the US are part of school or sports groups.
The user demographics show that 25% are teenagers, 25% are in their 40s, 20% are in their 30s and about 15% are in their 20s.
The number of users in business groups has increased by more than 40% compared to last year.
Naver explained that most business group users work in field-based jobs such as food and beverage, retail, healthcare, military, and police.
Band is being used as an optimized social media platform for real-time communication in such environments.
