The company announced on Thursday that it will deploy its proprietary Cityhub Building platform, a smart city control system that integrates energy, mobility and public safety functions, in projects in New York City and Hogansville, Georgia.
The deals represent the Korean IT service firm’s advance into one of the world’s most competitive smart city markets, validating its digital transformation (DX) capabilities abroad.
“This marks a milestone for LG CNS in demonstrating our smart city expertise on the global stage,” said CEO Hyun Shin-Gyoon. “We will lead the expansion of green smart city infrastructure in the US and usher in a sustainable future.”
LG CNS smart pole image (Courtesy of LG CNS) In New York, LG CNS will install EV charging stations and an energy management system inside the Brooklyn Army Terminal, a vibrant startup hub supporting a range of dynamic industries, under its agreement with the New York City Economic Development Corporation.
This is a follow-up deal to the DX partnership memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between LG CNS and New York City in November 2023.
The Korean IT firm will seek to offer its Level 3 ultra-fast EV charging system and energy storage system in New York later, the company said.
In Georgia, LG CNS will install IoT-enabled smart poles – combining lighting, surveillance and emergency response features – in Hogansville, with plans to expand the service into nearby cities such as LaGrange and West Point.
Both projects will be managed by the Korean IT company’s flagship smart city management platform, Cityhub Building, designed to serve as a central control system for urban infrastructure with real-time monitoring and control of smart city components.
