South Korean auto powertrain and seat maker Hyundai Transys announced on Monday that it has won the Winner prize at the "2023 Red Dot Design Award."
The Red Dot Design Award, organized by the Nordrhein Westfalen Design Center in Germany, is considered one of the top-three design competitions in the world, along with the German iF Design Award and the US IDEA Design Award. Each year, it selects award-winning works in various categories based on criteria such as innovativeness and functionality in design.
Hyundai Transys' future mobility concept seat, which received the grand prize in the design concept division of the mobility and transportation category of the Red Dot Design Award, embodies the theme of transition to regenerative mobility.
The sustainable direction of the future mobility seat, which focuses on environmental friendliness, is demonstrated by utilizing a fabric made by combining recycled leather and recycled PET yarn in the main part of the seat and applying a weaving technique that incorporates leftover leather in the bolster area to minimize leather waste.
