Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Sunday that it launched an 89-inch Micro LED TV model in the South Korean market. This product is Samsung's highest-quality TV, with a retail price of 130 million won ($100,000).
Micro LED is a display technology where LEDs that emit light and color are densely packed in micrometer (1 millionth of a meter) units, resulting in a higher resolution compared to OLED displays.
The South Korean electronic giant first introduced this product in China in April this year. The company has been continuously releasing a series of high-end TV models, including the domestic launch of the "Neo QLED 8K" 98-inch TV model on July 13.
"Starting with the 89-inch model, we will expand the Micro LED lineup to include 76, 101, and 114-inch models, widening the choices for consumers," Vice President in charge of Samsung Electronics Korea Hwang Tae-hwan said.
